Salman Khan's Sultan has entered the 200 crore club. With this, the Ali Abbas Zafar directed affair has created history as it is the first ever film to breach the 200 crore mark and that too under 7 days. None of the 200/300 crore club films before this (PK, Bajrangi Bhaijaan, Dhoom 3, Kick, Chennai Express, Prem Ratan Dhan Payo, Happy New Year, 3 Idiots) has managed to achieve this enviable feat in such quick time. However, for this Yash Raj Films, it has been made possible as 13.2 crore* more came in on Tuesday, hence bringing the total to 209 crore*.
In terms of lifetime collections, the film is now pretty much neck to neck with Prem Ratan Dhan Payo [210 crore]. Between now and tomorrow, the film will positively cross Chennai Express [227 crore] and Kick [232 crore] as well, hence turning out to be fourth highest grosser ever (after PK, Bajrangi Bhaijaan and Dhoom 3) in just 9 days. Unbelievable!
The film has set huge benchmarks for more Bollywood films to follow. Before the close of year, the only biggie that could challenge this feat is Dangal and Aamir Khan would have to come up with something truly special in the Christmas Day weekend. Till then, it is the voice of Sultan that would roar the loudest as there is no stopping the film that is crossing newer frontiers with every passing day.
*Final numbers awaited
